Find Out if Chuck Liddell’s Protégé Went Down
By admin0 | October 11, 2007
Many successful athletes often pick protégés. Not too long ago, former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell picked his protégé, a young boy by the name of Bradley Christensen.
Among the many youth athletes that have become successful champions at Monster Garage Athletics is my son, Anthony Valencia. He is a multiple national champion in several sports, and just recently he just entered the arena in Mixed Martial Arts. His first fight, was against a youth athlete that was not only older, taller, and bigger than him, but also a fighter much more experienced in the octagon, with a record of 68 - 3. My son’s first fight was against none other than Bradley Christensen, Chuck Liddell’s protégé.
Chuck Liddell is no stranger when it comes to molding athletes into successful champions. In 2005, Liddell proved himself to be a great leader in Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter,” featuring fighters new to the UFC that were competing for a UFC contract. Liddell served as coach of Team Liddell, while fellow fighter and then UFC Light Heavyweight champion Randy Couture coached Team Couture. The winners of “The Ultimate Fighter” were Diego Sanchez and Forrest Griffin, both members of Team Liddell. They have each gone on to achieve great success in the UFC.
Bradley Christensen is no exception. At 68-3, it’s hard to imagine another protégé for Chuck Liddell. Very few young fighters dominate like this in the sport. Just a month ago, my son stepped into the octogon with Bradley.
With the two fighters next to each other, others in the arena almost found it comical that I was serious about having Anthony step into the octagon with Bradley. Just before the fight, Bradley’s dad approached us, after recognizing that Bradley’s opponent, my son, was about 20 pounds lighter. He asked me if I was sure that I wanted to go ahead and put my boy into this fight, being that Bradley is a top-notch submission fighter in the sport, at 68-3. My son was simply towered by the protégé of Chuck Liddell. As I stood there with my son, Bradley’s father looked at us, wondering why we were so confident. It is no mystery. At Monster Garage Athletics, my athletes dominate in every sport they compete. One of the main tools they use to develop their physical and mental toughness is “The Power Training Bag.” It has been a main part of Anthony’s routine for sometime, and as he prepared for his first major Mixed Martial Arts match up, he felt ready to go up against the top fighter in the sport. Mr. Christensen asked if I was sure of putting Anthony up against his son, Bradley. I told Mr. Christensen that we had already thought about it, and that my son was good to go. He told me not to be concerned because Bradley was “gentle.” This may be hard for some to believe because in Bradley’s previous fight, he had broken his opponent’s arm using an bar arm. However, Bradley actually cried more than his opponent, so his dad told me not to worry too much, since Bradley would “take it easy.” As they were introduced by the announcer and went into the octagon, the size of the two boys was noticeably different. To everyone in the arena, my son–next to the protégé of Chuck Liddell–was a modern day David facing a 68-3 MMA Goliath. When the fight began, Bradley immediately connected with a ferocious kick to Anthony’s side - we all cringed. Anthony then launched a flurry of punches and Bradley countered with his own furious combinations. Anthony then shot to take down the gentle giant.
They rolled around for several seconds, resulting in Anthony sinking-in the rear naked choke. As Bradley attempted to escape, the choke only became tighter and tighter. After about 11 seconds, Bradley could no longer take it and tapped out, giving Anthony the victory over the gentle giant. It feels good for all of us at Monster Garage Athletics to say that Anthony went on to submit Bradley Christensen, the protégé of Chuck Liddell, with a rear naked choke in the first round.
This is not the end of Chuck Liddell’s protégé by any means, nor do I mean to offend him. It is simply amazing when a fighter with no matches under his belt goes up against an opponent with 68 wins and 3 losses–and wins. With Bradley suffering only his fourth loss, and my son Anthony gaining his first win, they will continue to enjoy success in Mixed Martial Arts. Anthony’s win, along with the successes of many other champions at Monster Garage Athletics, proves the effectiveness of our DVD set “Explosive Plyometric and Quick Twitch Exercises” and “Explosive Strength and Conditioning Exercises For the Championship Bound Athlete.” Over 30 exercises and various training techniques are demonstrated in detail, designed to take any MMA fighter to the next level. What I think is the key to this DVD set’s success is the focus on not only strength and endurance training, but also on developing quick reflexes. The “Quick Twitch” exercises in the DVDs greatly enhance a fighter’s reflexes, further developing his talent. The exercises also stress on the development of a fighter’s explosive abilities, which are key in making or defending a takedown, as well as punching and kicking.
Join us at Monster Garage Athletics by utilizing not only the DVD set, but all of our training techniques and revolutionary products. They will help you soar to levels of success you once only dreamed of. As Anthony trains with the bag more and more, he only becomes stronger. I hope Anthony’s next opponent is one of the many athletes utilizing “Explosive Plyometric and Quick Twitch Exercises” and “Explosive Strength and Conditioning Exercises For the Championship Bound Athlet.” in their workout routine, so he has another great challenge.

My son is a 10/U wrestler in Missouri. He consistently places high at the WOW events. He has placed 2nd twice at Tulsa Nats and this last spring was 8/U OW at Reno Worlds. We travel once a week to Collinsville, OK. for practice with West Hardy. Our local club here in Seneca has several boys Kylers size but not any real competition for him. I am looking for a workout for him that will give him the edge to be a consistent winner at the WOW events not just a placer. Does he have to have a workout partner for your DVD’s to work well, or can he do this with just me and him? Thank you.
